Maple at dusk

By Alina LogosAlina Pliushcheva

Size
30x25 cm
Material & technique
Oil on canvas Palette knife painting

This was about a year ago. I was walking home in the evening, and the maple leaves looked so bright in the darkness, almost like they were on fire. This became one of my favorite memories of that year. It was a cold and quiet october and not much else left such an impression on me.

So I painted this in about two hours. A couple of days later the surface was almost dry, but still had a nice sheen thanks to the alkyd medium i'd mixed into the paint. Btw I'd never used a synthetic medium before, but I could not find dammar resin anywhere while I was traveling.
